I dread 1908

October 30, 2008

Tonight will be the last night I will have Internet (outside of work) or TV access for the next two weeks.  (At least during the week)  As I’ve mentioned before that I hate my job, and I’ve gotten a new one.  One that requires me to move two hours away and back into civilization.  Until I start that job, 11/17, I will be subletting an empty apartment from friends.  An apartment with no cable and no Internet.  (In case you don’t remember, my lease is up and I had to move by tomorrow).  So tonight, I will finish packing the last of my boxes, clean the apartment and then settle in on my air mattress for the Sabres game.  After which, I will take apart my TV/Cable and Internet connections.  Thankfully, I’ll be heading up to the ‘Rents for the weekends, because I don’t know how I’m going to get through 2 weeks without access.

So, if you send me a message and I ignore you, I’m not really ignoring you.

Let’s go (water) Buffalo!!!  (Trust me on this one)

Right (read: Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight)

October 29, 2008

You may recall yesterday’s post where I politely asked the Sabres -

Dear Sabres,

Please don’t under estimate the Sens.  We all know they suck this year, but you seem to really piss them off and they want to win against you.  No 10-1 please, unless you’re getting the 10.  (And Pommerdoodle has a hat trick.)

Please don’t under estimate the Lightening.  We all know they suck this year.  They have Marty and Vinny and that #1 draft pick that’s done squat.

Please don’t under estimate the Caps.  Aw, hell, just see the Lightening comment…expect replace Mart and Vinny with Alex and…..let me come back to you with another name.

Thanks,

Chaz

See how well that worked out?  I swear the Sabres were saying to me, “Chaz, instead of 10-1 how about 5-2?”  Should I be happy you limited them to half the goals they previously scored, or happy you doubled your point production?  Frankly, I’m not happy.  Not happy at all.  You best heed my warning about the remaining two games, since they are the last I will see in awhile.  In better news, a bad Sabres game kicked my ass into gear and I got all of my packing done.  Just in time since the movers came today.

I’mmmmm Baaaaaaaaaaaaack

October 27, 2008

OK, at least momentarily.  I’m sitting here at work, where I have Internet access thinking “Self, what should I write about?”  It’s a  hard question to answer since everything I would want to say has already been said.

So, I guess I’ll look forward.

Dear Sabres,

Dear Sutter,

Sorry about your head.  Please contact Tim Connolly if you need any advice.  I’d forward his digits, but he couldn’t remember them when I asked.

Chaz

Dear Doug Weight,

I know you feel like ass, but it was technically a clean hit.  Keep your double chins up.

Chaz

Dear Cap’t Rivet,

I told you you’d like Buffalo.  I don’t lie.

Chaz

Seriously, how did people ever live without a Internet and digital cable?

This weekend, I had a preview of what my life will be like in the next few weeks.  See, I’m moving and I have to temporarily sub-let an apartment from my friends.  The problem is they cancelled their cable, and I’m only going to be there for a few weeks.  SO, I said I’d been fine.  This weekend I was at my parents house with an extremely packed weekend.  Not only did I see NO hockey games, I had limited access to the web and cable.  The only thing I could think of on the way home was “did the Sabres win”?  How am I going to go weeks without any cable or Internet?

If you see some loser sitting in Wegmans at 11PM laughing at her computer, cheering the Sabres or threatening to castrate a Sabre…that would be me.

Good Intentions

October 15, 2008

I had every intention to do some live game blogging for last nights Avs/Flames game.  Between Budaj and Kipper, I knew there would be a bevy of goals.

Instead my evening when something like this…

Game Start – Well this is good.  Both teams are starting the game 0-0.  I was sure they would handicap the teams like golf.

15:00 - Left in the 1st, Avs down 2-0.  Riiiiiiiight, where’s that bottle of Riesling I opened for dinner?

End of the 1st Period- the score is 3-2 Flames, I think.  One bottle of Riesling down, I’m going through the 15,000 bottles I bought on my wine tour in July.  Ahh, I think I’ll go with one of my “Nautie” wines.

Sometime during the 2nd Period – Peter McNabb mentions Budaj has been excellent during the current period.  I slur reiterate the key phrase is “this period”.  I then log into the NHL gamecenter in an attempt to watch Monday’s Sabres/Islanders game.  Damn gamecenter says it’s unavailable.  Woops, apparently the Avs have scored.  3-3.

Start of the 3rd Period – I pass out am tired so I decide to go to bed.  I turn the game on for some background noise.  With one foot on the floor so the room would stop turning, I vaguely remember hearing a couple goals being scored.  I hear the final buzzer and look up to see 5-4, Flames win.

Quelle Surprise, the Avs sucked AGAIN and my head hurts.  The Sabres better kick some Ranger ass tonight because Project Runway is on and a repeat of last night is unacceptable.  At least I don’t have my boss screaming in my ringing ears.
