Tonight starts a new feature at ISHMTC. I can feel your excitement!
I remember I mentioned somewhere in the first 75 things about me that I’m a cross-stitcher. It’s been about seven years now since I started my first project. That project was 12X14 with bears, yet another fact I shared in the first 75. A project that big can be a tad bit discouraging when your new to a craft. I trucked through it and am quite proud with how it came out. My second project was pooh adorned baby blanket that I spent HOURS slaving over for the arrival of my first nephew. I haven’t seen it since I gave it to my Sis-in-law which is why I don’t have any pictures of this piece. It’s all a bit discouraging, but I jumped right back on the saddle with “Walking to Town”.

Finished product
There are two inherent problems with “Walking to Town”.
1. There are 29 different colors of thread used together and separately. Just a tad challenging.
2. Its on dark fabric making it REALLY hard to see the holes in the fabric. I have to light my living room up like HSBC which makes it a little hard to conserve energy.
Now you’d think this would teach me to not shop for cross stitch like I all women shop for shoes or jewelry….uh, wrong. “OOOOOOoooo, look at the pretty picture!” I’m blinded by the prettiness of it all. Then, $20 and two hours later I searching for the hardest surface in which to bang my head against.
I put “Walking to Town” down for almost 2 years while I dealt with a lot of work travel and moving halfway across the country. A few weeks ago, I picked it back up. In order to make sure I keep truckin’ on with this thing, I’m going to document my progress every weekend. I expect all of you to keep me honest.
As of today, I’ve completed the following -

The color is bad cause the background is navy blue.
